Bilkent Üniversitesi – Bilkent University

Is a private university located in Ankara, Turkey. Founded by Professor İhsan Dogramaci in 1984

with the aim of establishing a center of excellence in higher education and research, it was the first private, non-profit university established in the country. The name Bilkent is an abbreviation of the Turkish term “Bilim Kenti” which means “City of Science”. It has consistently been ranked among the top Turkish universities since its establishment and in 2011, it was listed as the 112th best university in the world by the World University Rankings. Preparations for the establishment of the university began in 1967, with the purchase of a plot of land located west of Ankara. In the late 1970s, the foundations of the buildings that now house administrative offices, the Faculty of Engineering and the library were laid and soon faculty housing, cafeterias, student housing and various academic buildings followed.

Bilkent University Business School was the first business school in Turkey to be accredited by AACS; less than 5% of business schools worldwide have achieved this accreditation. Eduniversal ranked the Faculty of Business Administration among the best business schools in the Eurasia region in terms of international influence

According to the QS Rankings – Best Universities 2012 and 2013, the university is ranked 151-200 in terms of “Economics and Econometrics”

Student Life

Sports: Students can participate in many sports courses and are trained by university staff, often for free. The university offers many individuals and teams in different sports in squash competitions. The most popular sports teams of the university are the Bilkent Goats and Bilkent Judges, the ultimate team and the football team, respectively
